Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville-Christian County invites teens in grades 8-11 to a free Total Teen Takeover event on Friday, Sept.

18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at its 1600 Walnut Street location. Participants must show a current school ID to join fun, games, video tournaments, and prizes.

The Hopkinsville Small Business Commission invites small businesses to register for the Hopkinsville Small Business Conference, which will be held on October 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fire Department Station Five (101 Walton Way).

Registration runs until October 5 with a $25 fee.

Temperatures in Hopkinsville have been about 10 degrees above normal so far this month, leading to a Heat Advisory from the National Weather Service that lasts until Sept.

Knight Jr. announced that applications for the Mayor’s Youth Council are open for Christian County juniors and seniors, with submissions due by Friday, Sept. 25. Selected students will be notified by Oct. 1 and the official class announced at the City Council meeting on Oct. 20.

Gov. Beshear signed an order Tuesday to launch the Team Kentucky Medical Debt Relief Program aimed at erasing $250 million in medical debt for over 130,000 Kentuckians.

The first phase will remove up to $100 million in debt from about 46,000 residents, and relief letters will be sent next week+ eligible residents need no additional application.

On Monday, Sept. 15, the Lady Lyons excelled in a local golf competition when Brenna Breitrick posted a 41 and Harper Lewis scored 45, helping the team finish 15 shots ahead of Livingston Central.

Their combined score of 86 earned them individual medalist honors.
